Forces Friendly

We are a ‘forces friendly’ setting!
We support the needs of Armed Forces families by recognising the challenging
lifestyle they can live. We are mindful of the changes Armed Forces families face
and are sensitive to the wellbeing of the Armed Forces child during these times.
We focus on:

  • Understanding Military Lives
    • We understand that military families can move frequently. Our setting is
dedicated to helping children settle in quickly and supporting them if they have
to leave. We will contact the future childcare setting to help with a smoother
      transition.
  • Supporting Emotional Wellbeing
    • We know that children of service personnel may experience anxiety due to
parental deployment or absence. Staff are available to support children during
these unsettling times. We have dedicated resources for children going
through this deployment/separation. We support the whole family, not just the
      child in our care.
  • Flexible Communication
    • We understand and respect families who do not wish to share with us when a
family member is deployed but are available to them should they need us.
  • We keep in contact with the deployed parent in a variety of ways including:
    • More updates on their early years app
    • Sending emails with pictures on
    • Posting artwork to deployed parent
  • Cultural Awareness of Military Life
    • We use military related resources to promote experience of military children
      through dress-up, books and displays.
  • Support Networks and Signposting
    • We have links to other services available to support military families, such as
Aggies, Royal Navy Family and People Support (RNFPS), Naval Children’s
Charity and Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC). We can
signpost and refer families to the relevant support should they need it.
